On Friday, September 19th, Greenbank Family Dental was honoured to be named Winner of the Medical & Healthcare Small Business of the Year at the 2025 Logan Business Distinction Awards.
For a young clinic founded in 2020 during one of the most uncertain times in recent history, this recognition is both humbling and energising. It represents not only the hard work of our team but also the trust of every family who walks through our doors.
Building From Adversity
When we opened our doors at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we didn’t have the benefit of walk-by traffic or corporate marketing budgets. Instead, we built our practice through word of mouth, compassionate care, and consistency.
Every milestone since — from weathering the 2022 floods to adapting through economic challenges — has strengthened our focus: community-first, relationship-based dentistry.
What Makes Us Different
The judges recognised not only our clinical expertise but also the way we integrate care, education, and sustainability into everything we do:
Captain Clean Tooth Program – Our fun, hands-on early learning initiative has already reached over 100 children across Logan, teaching oral health in a way that sticks for life. See more.
Healthy Smiles, Healthy Forests – For every patient referral, we plant a native Australian tree, creating a ripple effect that restores ecosystems while celebrating community. See more.
Patient-Centred Approach – We’ve built a reputation for guiding patients from anxiety to confidence, often transforming not just individuals but entire families. See more.
A Team Effort
While only Dr Dan and Emmanuel attended the awards ceremony, this achievement belongs to our whole team. From our gentle clinicians to our dedicated support staff, each person plays a part in creating the safe, welcoming environment GFD is known for.
“Everyone at Greenbank Family Dental contributes towards the great culture, environment, and patient experience that we have become known for. We don’t always realise the impact of the efforts we put in day by day — but this award is a powerful reminder that it matters.”— Emmanuel Richards, Practice Manager
“You’re Dr Dan?” — A Moment That Says It All
Sometimes, the impact of our daily work becomes most visible in unexpected ways. At the awards night, a local business leader turned to Dr Dan in surprise:“You’re the Dr Dan? Our daughter talks about you all the time — she learned from you to brush for two minutes morning and night!”
Their daughter had been part of a Captain Clean Tooth visit earlier this year at Active Kids Greenbank. For us, that one comment captured everything this award is about: the difference we make in people’s lives, one child, one family, and one smile at a time.
“Oh my goodness, I am so excited! This award shows that as a clinic and as a team, our efforts to change how people feel about dentistry are truly happening. Not only were we recognised on stage, but perhaps even more personally fulfilling for me was that recognition from our own community — not as ‘just a dentist,’ but as someone making a difference through outreach. That, for me, is the most rewarding part.”— Dr Dan Holthe, Principal Dentist

More Than an Award — A Shared Win
To us, this award belongs as much to the Greenbank and Logan community as it does to our practice. Every smile we restore, every child we teach, and every tree we plant is part of a bigger story.
With our upcoming move to the Pub Lane Health Hub in 2026, this recognition is both a celebration of what we’ve achieved so far and a launchpad for what comes next.
We are proud, grateful, and ready to continue serving — one smile, one family, one tree at a time.mile, one family, one tree at a time.
