Morning Tea, Laughter, and Sleep Health at The Springs Over 50’s Village

Last week, Robyn and I had the pleasure of visiting The Springs retirement village in Park Ridge to join their famous morning tea in the common room—a much-loved highlight on the calendar for many of the vibrant residents who call The Springs home.

We were invited to share a few insights into Dental Sleep Medicine, particularly the alternative options available for those with mild to moderate sleep apnea who may struggle with traditional CPAP machines. It was a relaxed and engaging morning, and we were genuinely touched by how many of the patrons had either experienced sleep issues themselves or knew someone who had.

Of course, the moment we mentioned sleep apnea, one by one out came the stories, chuckles, and a few jokes about snoring spouses—some of whom are sadly no longer with us. And when the topic shifted to dentures, the banter only continued! A few had even been referred to GFD but hadn’t yet made the trip—so putting faces to the clinic was wonderful.

And yes—we’re pleased to report our molar cookies went down a treat! A little sweet touch to go with the conversation and cuppas.

We were having so much fun, we completely forgot to get photos with our new friends—but the memories (and the laughs) will definitely stay with us.

It’s clear this is a community filled not only with wisdom but also a wonderful sense of humour.

Robyn and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the residents—many of whom have witnessed first-hand the evolution of medical care, dental techniques, and technology over the past 70+ years. Their curiosity, warmth, and openness made the visit incredibly special.

As part of our community focus at Greenbank Family Dental, we’re always happy to visit local villages, clubs, or community centres to share how we can support your health and wellbeing—whether that’s a better night’s sleep, a more confident smile, or simply understanding your options.

Would your community like a visit?

We’d love to come by.
