Fluoride Treatment (121): Strengthening Teeth with Flairesse Foam

Updated: Aug 29

Why fluoride matters

Fluoride is a natural mineral that makes teeth stronger and more resistant to decay. While most people get some fluoride from toothpaste or drinking water, professional fluoride treatments (item 121) provide a higher level of protection — especially important for children, teens, and patients at higher risk of decay.

At Greenbank Family Dental, fluoride is part of our focus on prevention first: stopping problems before they start.

What happens during a fluoride treatment?

  • After your clean, a tray or swab is used to apply Flairesse Foam — a professional-strength fluoride.

  • The foam coats the teeth, penetrating the enamel to make it more resistant to acids and bacteria.

  • The whole process takes just a few minutes.

  • You’ll be asked not to eat or drink for 30 minutes afterwards so the fluoride can fully absorb.

It’s quick, painless, and highly effective.

The benefits of professional fluoride (item 121)

  • Stronger enamel — reduces risk of cavities.

  • Extra protection for kids & teens — especially as new permanent teeth erupt.

  • Great for adults, too — if you’re prone to sensitivity, gum recession, or frequent decay.

  • Covered by CDBS — for eligible children, fluoride is fully covered under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.

Flairesse Foam: our fluoride of choice

We use Flairesse Foam by DMG — a trusted professional fluoride that is effective and gentle. It comes in three flavours so kids (and adults!) can choose their favourite:

  • 🍃 Spearmint (most popular with adults and teens)

  • 🍓 Strawberry (a hit with kids)

  • 🍉 Watermelon (fun and refreshing)

This makes fluoride treatment at GFD not only protective, but also a positive experience patients actually look forward to.
