Jemima, just 19 years old, always envisioned herself as a paramedic, driven by a desire to help others and make a difference in people's lives. However, in 2024, her journey took an inspiring turn when she joined Greenbank Family Dental (GFD). “I wanted to get myself into a medical environment,” Jemima shares, “but I quickly discovered that I love this industry!”

Her passion for dental care has grown significantly since joining GFD, sparked by her hands-on experiences and the supportive environment. Assisting the hygienists and dentists has been a rewarding experience for Jemima. She is actively involved in developing and executing treatment plans, as well as handling charting and notes for each procedure. This hands-on role has deepened her understanding of patient care.
She has honed her interpersonal skills, recognising their importance as she serves as the front face of the clinic when people arrive. She’s now preparing to study public health, transferring to dental hygiene. "I like the idea of dental hygiene as it’s very organised, and I feel that when life is chaotic, this routine helps a lot," Jemima shares.
“I’ve really appreciated assisting Timea, our Oral Health Therapist, and our GFD dentists,” Jemima says. “Working closely with her on treatment plans has given me a deeper understanding of patient care. Patient care is so important, and ensuring every individual feels supported and valued makes all the difference in their experience. It has taught me so much about the intricate processes involved in oral health. The level of attention given to each patient in their journey is so inspiring – that’s what I want to do!”
Jemimia’s admiration for Timea extends beyond her skills in the clinic. “Even listening to Timea educate patients in her chair has opened my eyes to the far-reaching benefits of maintaining good oral health. I did not realise how much oral health affects the body as a whole; more people need to know the positive impact of looking after their oral health,” she explains.
A particularly heartwarming moment for Jemima came when she spoke with the husband of a patient, showcasing the profound impact of her work. “I asked how his wife was following her treatment plan, and he told me, ‘My wife’s confidence has returned now that her oral health is back. I have the woman I fell in love with back. I love seeing her happy and smiling again.’”
This heartfelt story reaffirmed Jemimia’s passion for making a difference in people’s lives through oral health care. “I want to help educate people on the importance of good oral health and make a real positive impact on the lives of our GFD community!” she says.

Jemima’s journey is a testament to how rewarding a career in dental care can be. Her dedication and compassionate nature not only inspire her colleagues but also resonate deeply with patients, reinforcing the importance of empathy in healthcare. If you’re seeking care from a team that values both expertise and empathy, Greenbank Family Dental is here for you. We’re so proud to have Jemima as a cherished member of the GFD team!
